Why a 5-Bedroom Move Needs Extra Planning
Moving from a 5-bedroom house is different from smaller moves. Here’s what you’re usually dealing with:
- More floors and stairs
- Bigger furniture (king beds, sectionals, dining sets)
- Full garage, basement, and attic
- Outdoor spaces with grills, sheds, and yard equipment
- Way more boxes than you think
When you contact B&B Moving and Storage for a quote, we’ll ask for a room-by-room list. This helps us figure out truck size, how many movers you need, and how long your move will take. If you want help with packing and moving services, tell us that too.

Moving Long Distance from a 5-Bedroom House
If you’re moving out of state or more than 100 miles away, a few extra things matter.
First, timing. Long-distance moves take more coordination. You’ll want to book at least 4-6 weeks in advance, especially during summer months.
Second, cost. Long-distance moves are priced by weight and distance, not just hours. That’s why an accurate inventory is so important. The more detailed your list, the better your quote.
Third, delivery windows. Your stuff might arrive 1-3 days after pickup, depending on the route. We’ll give you a delivery window upfront so you can plan.
And finally, packing. For long-distance moves, we recommend professional packing for fragile or valuable items. Things shift more in transit, and proper packing makes a big difference.
At B&B Moving and Storage, we handle long-distance moves regularly. We’ll walk you through the process, answer your questions, and keep you updated the whole way.
Sam’s Pro Tips for a 5-Bedroom House Move
- Start early. A 5-bedroom move takes time to plan and pack.
- Label everything. Trust me, you don’t want to hunt through 50 boxes to find your coffee maker.
- Be honest about your basement and garage. They’re usually packed, and that’s fine, but we need to know.
- Take measurements. Tight staircases, long driveways, and narrow doorways matter. Let us know upfront.
- Purge before you pack. You don’t need to move everything. Donate, sell, or toss what you don’t use anymore.
At B&B Moving and Storage, we’ve moved families from 5-bedroom colonials, split-levels, and everything in between. Our goal is simple: make your move smooth, safe, and stress-free. We can even handle moving-related junk removal if you need it.
